Everyone had a great time at our outside broadcast at Opal by Living Gems during their Open Day. Mike Anderson took over from Matt East from 10am and then Mal West hosted from 12pm. Dennis from Living Gems dropped by for an interview. He and his wonderful team will be on hand again tomorrow 10am-4pm for another Open Day. Check out their website for more information on this wonderful resort at https://www.livinggems.com.au/opal/. Brett Raguse also stopped by for an interview with Mal.
We wanted to give our listeners an update on the technical issues that we had been experiencing. From August 2019 the station had been running on our old standby transmitter after having problems with our main transmitter and sending it off to be repaired, which meant that we had to run on reduced power. Unfortunately when the main transmitter came back it failed again during testing, so was packaged up and sent to England before Christmas for repairs. It has now been returned, tested and is back in service.
As we had been running on the old standby transmitter at reduced power, a further failure would have put us off the air so Management approved the purchase of a new FM exciter and power amplifier. These were installed which meant that we were able to return to full power while using the standby transmitter. We can now transmit on full power with both the main and standby transmitters.
You can imagine that all this work is quite expensive Therefore, we are extremely grateful to the Logan community who continue to support 101FM.
