Hi Nicko here,
My life ambition was to be a presenter. I have been on 101FM for twelve years.
I do "Night Moves" (10pm to 1am) every second Wednesday night and "Party Mix" (7pm to 10pm) on the second and fourth Saturday every month. My favourite music is the sixties, it was an exciting era to grow up in.
Although I experienced the seventies I was influenced by the music of two older sisters. We grew up on the north coast. The surf scene was the go....... I stlll remember the "sockhops" and my sister with her "bobby socks".
We frequented the Mooloolaba surf life saving club. I remember the "woodies" parked outside.
A lot of my sisters friends were lifesavers with their girlfriends. Rock and Roll was big and there were concerts in town. Both my sisters had a cleaning job at a motel where the stars stayed between gigs.
They used to come home with Col Joy, Billy Thorpe, Normie Rowe signatures on their school hats in lipstick..........Mum was not impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Rock and Roll and the sixties influence. Outside of 101FM I enjoy cooking, spending time with my mates, going away in my caravan. I also enjoy dancing.............Rock and Roll of course.
I love to interact with my audience, to convey my sense of humour and with that I look forward to the phone calls and value their time to listen to my show. I also like to embrace the music and make a difference in their lives.....
Simone loves radio and has worked in world class radio stations around the globe including Q103 in Cambridge, KIX-106-Fm in Canberra and Triple M Brisbane.
She's married to Aussie country music star Terry Clark and is mum to twins Sunny and Melody and 9yo Michaela.
She also has her beautiful Pomeranian Bell and Bo Brady.
Simone and her family reside in Logan and on the weekend over Summer you'll find her at little A's with her girls, they are all very sporty.
Listen to Simone Thursday mornings for her favourite selection of music from the 70's through to now
I joined Radio Logan together with my husband Bill in March 1986 and we did a test broadcast from a 16 foot caravan the following month from the bottom of the water tower at Daisy Hill.
We started with a program called “Backtrack” which is still going today and is music from the 1950’s & 1960’s. We have done interviews with some of the greats from that era, Guy Mitchell, Johnny Tillotson and Cliff Richard to name a few. Backtrack goes to air on Sundays from Noon to 2pm. I am the main presenter on Backtrack but I also help Bill with his Country Program on Tuesday nights from 7pm to 10pm.
I joined Radio Logan together with my wife Mary in March 1986 and we did a test broadcast from a 16 foot caravan the following month from the bottom of the water tank at Daisy Hill.

We once did an Outside Broadcast for a whole week in King George Square in Brisbane from 9am to 4pm each day and our station stood out because of our open air style of broadcasting and people could actually come up and talk to the announcer and watch what we were doing.
I got the opportunity to do a regular Country program sometime in 2014 on Tuesday nights between 7pm & 10pm. Country and Country Rock are my second loves of music. My favourite Country artists being Alan Jackson, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Lee Kernaghan, Adam Brand & Dwight Yoakam to name a few, there are many more.
All the music we play on 101FM is all our own collection of music from Vinyl Records & CD’s and as long as we stay in format the selection of music is up to the presenter which I like.
I have served on the committee of 101FM a number of times mainly as Treasurer and enjoyed my time with them.
What I love about being a presenter on 101FM is the instant feedback we have with our loyal listeners via Facebook and on the telephone.
On the odd occasion when I’ve run out of bargain basement prizes for ‘name that tune’ we’ve still had plenty of interaction and listeners will join in just for the fun of it!
I’ve been made to feel very welcome at Logan 101 despite not being a local and, when I suggested that I would try and work on my accent many people contact me to say that they can almost understand what I’m saying so don’t change it.
It’s great to have freedom of choice when it comes to music content and it’s just a great fun place to work.
Obviously I’m “not from round here” and actually moved to Queensland from the UK in June 2014. We have been coming to Australia on holiday for many years and my wife Tracey (The current Mrs Bennett) lived here for a few years before we got together. We have been together since 1997 but only tied the knot in 2011. . . well, there’s no point in rushing these things! We had our wedding ceremony overlooking Miami Beach on the Gold Coast and decided there and then that we wanted to settle here so we worked our way through the system, sold up the UK and the rest, as they say, is history!
My radio career commenced in 1977 with commercial radio 6NW in WA presenting a variety of ‘on-air’ programs including talk-back and interviews.
I have also been associated with the following stations:
6KA Karratha, Central Radio 87.6FM Beenleigh, 100.3 Bay FM, 91.3FM Yeppoon, Prime Radio 4RO Rockhampton, 4CC Gladstone, and the Super Radio Network FM93.5.
My roles within these networks have included Station Manager, Program Director, Music Director, Sales Manager, together with various on-air broadcasting programs.
When you are 'on air', the most important person in your life is your listener.
I'm constantly reminded why people listen to the radio:
The most important thing is....never forget your listener.

I treasure the opportunity to be a presenter on 101 fm. It is a vibrant Community radio station; there is an air of professionalism about the way things are done; we have a wonderfully supportive listener base but, most of all, it has given me a chance to fulfil a life-time dream of being a ‘DJ”
I have always had an interest in music ever since I heard my parents singing Gilbert and Sullivan and, from the day I first heard a tune called ‘Caravan’ which, as I later discovered, was performed by Duke Ellington. I have also been playing guitar of different types since I was twenty and have added to this the ukulele.
I have been a Trivia Master for the past twenty years so I have had plenty of experience with a microphone and, having been a teacher for more than forty years, I have had to learn to project my voice and to master the art of understatement.
Hi, I am Peter Hope.
I present "Sunday Morning Biggest Hits and Greatest Memories" 8.00am - Noon and various other casual fill in programs when requested.
